Many CCA graduates were the first in their families to graduate from high school. They tend to have a salutary impact on their families as their brothers and sisters often follow in their footsteps and complete high school. CCA graduates are represented in many areas of work: teachers, social workers, counselors, government employees, ministers, beauticians, construction workers, chefs, and entrepreneurs.
Among colleges where CCA students have enrolled are Aurora University, Bethune-Cookman College, Wilberforce University in Ohio, Lincoln University in Missouri, Tougaloo College in Mississippi, Bennett College, Northern Illinois University, Columbia College, Chicago State University, Chicago’s City Colleges (including Malcolm X, Kennedy King, Harold Washington, Truman and Daley Colleges), Robert Morris College, and Mississippi Valley State University. Graduates often return to CCA to share their experiences with students, serve as mentors and tutors, and as CCA employees.
